Merry Christmas.... To Me

It has finally arrived! I have been anxiously waiting for the Ipsy My Glam Bag and it has finally made its way to my mailbox. Ipsy is a monthly subscription service that (for ten dollars) sends you a cute little makeup bag filled with 4-5 deluxe-sized makeup samples and sometimes even full sized products. For about a month previous to subscribing to Ipsy I researched several companies that provided similar subscriptions. I decided to go with Ipsy and Loosebutton's Luxe Box (which I am expecting I will get tomorrow!) since they both seem to be well worth what you are paying for them.
ANYWAYS, on to what I recieved in my glam bag!

The first product that I recieved in my glam bag was Urban Decay's 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil which is great because you can never have too many eyeliners. The full-size of this eyeliner is 0.04 oz while my sample of the product is 0.03 oz. UD's eye pencil sells for just over 23.00 so I am thrilled with this sample. I swatched it on my hand and noticed how smoothly it glides on which is always something I look for in an eyeliner.

The second product I recieved is the Mai Couture Highlighter Papier which I am kind of nervous to try but also very excited as I have only ever tried one highlighter before. This product is really interesting though because the highlighter comes in a little booklet of papers that you just kind of lightly blot onto your face. I just hope it doesnt end up being a sparkly mess! The full-size booklet contains 50 sheets (at a 28.00 value) while the sample I recieved contains 25 sheets which I think is amazing.

The third product I recieved was Mirabella's Face and Eye Primer. I've never really used a primer before but I am really interested in trying this one to see if primer is really worth the purchase. The primer that came in the Ipsy bag was actually a full-size product that is regular price 29.00... I'm just blown away by how much these products are worth when I have only spent 10.00 on ALL of them.. I just think its amazing.

The fourth product I recieved in my glam bag was the NYX Loose Shadow in Charcoal Pearl. Again, I'm kind of nervous about this product as for the application just because it is in such a small bottle.. I don't really know how I am going to get the shadow out of the bottle and onto my brush without making a mess. Anyways, I think this colour is perfect for a smokey eye and I'm really excited to see what it looks like when on. The 5 ml bottle of the NYX Loose Pearl Shadow (which is what I recieved) is worth 5.00.

The final product I recieved was the Be A Bombshell Lipgloss in the colour "Hot Mess" which is a really pretty bright red that's perfect for the season. I don't normally wear lip glosses but I think this will be really pretty over a red lipstick for something a little more bold or even on its own. Again, this is a full-size product at 14.00.

To sum up... I'm AMAZED with the products that I have recieved in the Ipsy My Glam Bag. I'd really recommend this subscription to anyone that is looking to subscribe to a beauty box/bag or really to anyone that is just looking to try something new makeup/beauty-wise. I'll be posting a look soon with all of the products I've recieved in my bag!

until laterr :)

makeover

Well hello,
This is my lovely sister Natasha :)
Every once and a while when she goes out I practically beg her to let me do her hair and makeup. Anyways this is the final we decided on tonight.
She is wearing Dior Addict Lip Stick in Positive Red which is a colour I really love and use often. Its really nice for this time of year especially and has little tiny flecks of gold which is really pretty.
I used a Sephora brand shadow palette (Taupe Model No. 6) on her eyes which is a palette I use pretty much  every day. It transitions really well, I use the lighter colours during the daytime for just a bit of shimmer but it also dark browns with flecks of silver that is perfect for an evening out.
The mascara I used on her eyes is L'Oreal Voluminous Million Lashes which I don't really like that much. It's nothing spectacular and I don't think I'll buy it again. I will however give it to my sister if she liked it. I don't quite think it meets the expectations set by its intense name.
I also used the Sephora brand sculpting disk on my sister which is probably one of my favourite things. I find it absolutely fantastic. In the sculpting disk there is a matte powder, a bronzing powder and a lovely highlighter (although I find that I have to be extra light when applying the highlighter). So that is the complete look (looking at the picture I noticed I failed on her right eye's eyeliner... woops - sorry tash. she still looks great though)

sometimes the forgotten items might suprise you

well hellooo :)
So I recently went through a phase during which I spent A LOT of time clearing my room of things I had no use for. I do this from time to time as a stress reliever because I often find my room very cluttered which adds to my anxiety (which really works btw.. the first thing I do when I'm stressed is get rid of the clutter!). Anyways, as I was going through drawers of makeup and clothes I never wore, I stumbled upon a few things I had forgotten about. Now, I'm not usually one for a pencil eyeliner... I know that sounds weird but I really do prefer liquid eyeliners. I just find that they come out nicer and I tend to look like a disheveled emo when I use a pencil. While cleaning, I came across my Extra-Intense Liquid Pencil Eyeliner in Carbon Black by L'Oreal. Needless to say... I am IN LOVE with this pencil... it looks just like a liquid liner when you put it on and its got this shine to it that i just find really pretty. The second thing I found that I was thrilled about was my Sephora brand pink lip stick (which I can't seem to find a colour or number on it).. I was kind of always afraid to wear it because I tend to wear more lip stains or tinted lip balms and if i used lipstick it would usually be a light coral or red. I have NO idea why I bought this... the bubblegum pinkness of it is something I would normally find very intimidating. I never wore it and just tossed it in the box with my other lipsticks thinking I may break it out if I go out to a club or something. But when I tried it on recently I found that it was a lot less bold then I had initially thought it was (it is more of a pale pink when on the lips). The lipstick has almost a glossy finish to it which I really like. The good thing about this lipstick is that it's kind of an introduction to pink lipstick for me. Instead of going full in with a super pigmented flourescent pink lipstick, I am merely dipping my toe in to test it out :)

ANYWAYS... moral of the story is go through your things! you might find something great that you forgot about. ALSO.. try something new with your makeup because without that you'll get stuck in a makeup rut D:

bye for now :)

I guess this is hello

Well hello :)

My name is Robyn and i have recently been introduced to a whole new world (aladdin) of beauty and beauty products. I don't know exactly how it happened but as I got older but I suddenly felt the importance of good quality products and styling tools. So i threw out my dollar store lip glosses and went searching for the best products for me that are also reasonably priced (I'm kind of broke -___-). That is why I have decided to create this blog. Not only am I using this blog as a platform to review products I have tried, I am also kind of hoping that others will share their tips, tricks and ideas with me as well. I have decided to jump on the bandwagon with the whole "beauty box" thing and so far I have purchased the Loose Button Luxe Box as well as the Ipsy GlamBag and I am extremely excited to get those this month and try out the different products. I researched both companies and decided that they were the ones I wanted to spend my money on. The Ipsy GlamBag DID have a few offputting reasons why I shouldn't purchase it (a few incidents were reported at the beginning of 2012) however, i feel like the company is trying to redeem themselves and the whole concept of the getting the (4-5) products in a new themed makeup bag each month really intrigues me. It also seems the most geared towards young adults. The Luxe Box by Loose Button is a seasonal beauty box. A lot of reviews of this box said that it was geared more towards older women as opposed to people around my age (late teens, early twenties) BUT I found the items in the boxes particularly attractive to me... (maybe I'm an old lady :S). Yes I could do without anti-aging creams but everything else seemed great and I also like the fact that it is a seasonal package and there are more items in it then the standard beauty box. Anyways, I am really excited to try the products from Ipsy and Loose Button.
